My car came with a painted CF hood. I may swap on a factory hood at some point, but I can’t lie, I’ve been kinda enjoying living out my boy racer dreams for a while first.
i' ve always thought it was a bit dumb to have the carbon weave covered, so I stripped the paint and clear coated the hood over the last couple weeks. Still needs a good polish, and there are definitely some cracks that the PO was hiding with the paint job, but I’m pretty happy with how it looks. I’ll probably paint on a Honda logo to cover the 8x6 section with a bunch of cracks where it looks like the engine produced enough heat to crack the gel coat. Otherwise, if you’ve got carbon fiber, why not display it?

Idk, it usually looks good although that h ood isn’t my favorite aftermarket design, looks better than it did trying to be factory with the paint

I played that game obsessively over the time period I was obsessed with the S2000... So yeah :) I know I'll need to grow up soon but it's satisfying right now.

Yeah, agreed on looks better than factory paint. I get why they did it (cracks) but covering 90% of it due to 1 bad section seems excessive...
I’m planning on changing which vents are functional to give a little more airflow over the head&valve cover, and I was thinking of going all out silly with a shift light in the closest driver’s side vent. Right now the vents closest to the front are opened up, which seems like a bad idea to me. That’s just till I go stock, which isn’t getting any more expensive.
The eventual plan is to buy a new/used hood and front bumper. They’re lighter anyways. Just don’t want to drop the money to buy and paint right now, trying to save for a bit. After that , I can always make molds of them later to make replacement CF parts that are actually lighter...

Double down on the boy racer and use a strip of vinyl to cover up the cracks with a racing stripe

Yeah I can imagine the price, would a CF stock style hood be a cheaper option in that case?

About the same, I think. Used hoods run about $400+, and I'd need to repaint it. I think the hood I have runs about $600.

I was thinking a Honda logo because the cracked section is right next to the top of the passenger's vent section: not sure the vinyl stripe would look good going over that or diagonally...
